「草木萌動 (そうもくめばえいずる)」草木が芽生え始める季節から始まった弥生の３月。
March is the month of Yayoi, the season when plants and trees begin to sprout.
「弥生」の語源は、草木がいやがおうにも上に生えることを意味する「いやおい」が転じたものだそうで、新しい生命の芽吹きが始まり、春色に染まっていく季節ですね。
The origin of the word "Yayoi" is said to have come about through the word "Iyaoi," which means that plants and trees grow upward, whether willing or not.
It’s the season when the new life begins to sprout while dyeing the hills and fields in spring colors.
3月は英語でMarchですが、古代ローマ暦では、１年は３月始まりで、戦の始まりの月でもあったことから、軍神Marsを称えたことから、古代ローマの軍神（Mars）に由来しており、春うららの平和なイメージの３月が、西洋では戦と関連していることが驚きです。
This season is translated as March in English.
In the ancient Roman calendar, the year started in March, and since it was also the month of starting wars for Roman, March was named after the Roman god of war, ”Mars”, wishing for the victory in the battle. It is surprising that 弥生(Japanese tytle of March ) has peaceful image of spring in Japan, whereas it is associated with war in the West.
３月３日のひなまつりは、五節供の一つですが、ご節供の「節」は季節の節目、そして「供」は食物を「供」することで、神様へ供える供御（くご）を表しています。
古来より、日本人は季節の旬の実りを神様へのお供え物として捧げ、感謝と祈りを捧げました。 Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival) on March 3rd is one of the Go-Sekku in Japan, where "Setsu" in Go-Sekku refers to the turning point of the seasons, and "Ku" refers to the offering of seasonal harvests to the deities.
Since ancient times, Japanese people have offered seasonal blessings as offerings to the deities to express their gratitude and prayers for bumper crops.
上巳の節供とも言われるのは、３月初めの巳の日に水辺で清め祓う唐の風習が日本に伝わり、それが人形に穢れを移し厄災を託す古来の人形信仰の祓いと結びついたからであり、この風習が時を経て、現代のような雛祭りとなりました。
It is also called "Joushi-no-Sekku," which means "Change of the seasons on the day of the snake" in Japan.
In the ancient times, traditional custom in Tang Dynasty purifying the body by the waterside on the first snake day of March was introduced to Japan, later it was combined with the purification of Japanese ancient custom , in which people transferred impurities to dolls and entrusted them with bad luck.
This tradition eventually resulted in the modern Hinamatsuri now we see today.
昨日は、その上巳の節供に開催された「季節を愛でる・桃の節供に寄せて」おひなさま会に参加させて頂きました。
Yesterday, I participated in the Hinamatsuri event, or Joshi-no-Sekku, which is customarily held on the day of March 3 in Japan.
「帯のこくりょう・えんぎあん」は、京都の西陣にある伝統的な着物呉服商の一つで、縁長の國領満男さんは、プラス思考の語呂合わせでオリジナリティに富んだ沢山のお着物を創作されていらっしゃいます。
Obi no Kokuryou Engi-an is one of the traditional Kimono fabric dealers located in Nishijin, Kyoto. Mr. Mitsuo Kokuryo,the owner of Engian, has created a number of wonderful original kimonos and obi sashes using various Japanese words for positive thinking.
こちらは、呉服商のえんぎあんに飾られていた京雛のお人形。
鼻筋がすっとしていて、高貴な御顔立ちですね。
This is a Kyo-hina doll that was displayed at Engian.
They have noble faces with well defined noses.
國領さんの雛祭りの深いお話の後に、数々の素敵なお着物をご紹介頂きました。
After the profound story of Hinamatsuri, the owner introduced a number of wonderful kimonos to us.
こちらの三重経錦の白生地に引き染めした美しい訪問着には、
、四の桔梗、菜の花、向日葵、蜜柑、射干（しゃが）、一位(いちい)が二、万年青（おもと）、
吾亦紅（われもこう）、茄子、玉羊歯（たましだ）、金宝樹（きんぽうじゅ）、貝母（ばいも）、鳴子百合(なるこゆり)、翌檜（あすなろ）の縁起の良い花や植物があしらわれています。
This beautiful kimono is patterned with various auspicious flowers and plants.
この花と植物の名を繋いでいくと
「良き今日なのはな 陽回り見 感謝が一位に大本 我も幸成す魂だ
金宝寿 倍も成る子有利に明日なろう」
という、とても縁起の良い語呂合わせになるのです！
When the names of these flowers and plants are connected to each other, it forms the very auspicious sentence, which brings lots of good luck and economic fortune!
「今日の良き日が迎えられるのは、お日様を見て前向きに感謝することが
一番大事です。そのことが幸せになる根本だと、魂が知っています。
お金も宝物もめでたいことも倍になるとっても有益な明日にしましょう」
“The most important thing is to look at the sun and be positive and grateful.

という國領さんの素晴らしい思いが込められていて、身に纏うだけで、幸せが舞い込んできそうなお着物です。 I felt that his kimono was infused with his wonderful thought which would bring you happiness just by wearing it.
Pが８つでハッピー。数字の4が向かい合わせで幸せ、漢字の甲が4つでプラス思考です
The eight P's make you happy(8P).
The number "4" is facing to each other, which means happiness(4合わせ＝幸せ)
Four Chinese character "甲（Kou）" makes “positive thinking（４甲＝思考）.”

これは「夢運」で新月から満月で、白生地の地紋が繻子の雲海の地紋により、雲をイメージしているのだそうです。
This is a "dream luck" kimono with a pattern of a new moon to a full moon.
The white fabric has a pattern of satin sea of clouds, giving the image of clouds in the moon night.
こちらの艶やかな着物には、銀糸が織り込まれて、輝きを放っています。
こちらにも幸せな語呂合わせを持つ文様で彩られています。
This glossy kimono has silver threads woven into the fabric, making it shine.
This also has happy, happiness, positive thinking, and good health with butterflies.
The wisdom of happiness is positive thinking. This one is also decorated with patterns that have auspicious words and phrases

コロナのマスコミやニュースのネガティブな報道には過敏に反応してしまいがちなように、
人間は自分にとってマイナスなことには心を動かされ影響を受けやすい、という傾向があり、逆にポジティブな言い伝えや語呂合わせはそれ本当に？という気持ちもじゃまして、心からそれを信じる、ということが難しい傾向にあると思います。
Just like we tend to overreact to negative reports in the media and news in Corona,
there is a tendency we tend to be easily moved and influenced by negative things, while positive sayings and phrases can make us wonder if they are true, making it difficult for us to believe them from the bottom of our heart.
