Well, do you have any idea when it started and how it originated? お母さんに感謝する日自体は、古くは１７世紀にアイルランドやイギリスで始まった「マザリングデー」に由来し、このマザリングデーに丁稚奉公の子供達が、主人からお土産を頂き、帰省し母との再会を喜び、共に教会に出向いたことに始まります。 The day for showing gratitude for mothers dates back to the 17th century in Ireland and England, named as ”Mothering Day,” on which children serving their master got some gifts from him, had a touching reunion with their mother, and went to church together.
そして、現代に繋がる母の日は、1907年の５月に、アメリカ人女性のアンナ・ジャービス”が愛する亡き母のために、教会で行った記念会がきっかけでした。
The event which led to the present Mother’s Day we see today, was a memorial conducted in May,1907, for one American woman Anna Jarvis’ beloved late mother at a church in West Virginia.
アンナの母は、南北の壁を超えて一つになるための平和活動に、その人生を尽くしたそうですが、その母の功績に敬意を表し、アンナが参列者に配ったのが白いカーネーションでした。
だから、カーネーションが母の日の花であるのですね！
Anna's mother devoted her life for the peace movement to bridge the gap between North and South. Anna showed respect to her mother’s achievement and gave white carnations to the attendees.
That's why the carnation is an official flower of Mother’s Day!
このことが人々の共感を呼び、その後５月第二日曜日が母の日としてアメリカの国民の祝日となりましたが、母への深い愛が、ひいては人の心を動かし、そして大きな政府まで動かすとは、改めて、愛のエネルギーの素晴らしさを感じます。

その後、森永が20万人ものお母さんを遊園地に無料招待する一大イベントをきっかけに母の日が広く庶民に知れ渡り、終戦後にはアメリカ文化に倣い、「５月２日の第二日曜」が日本でも母の日となりました。
The letter which Anna sent to Aoyama Gakuin University moved the professors so much that they introduced the Mother’s Day culture to Japan.
Later, one of the renowned confectionery manufacturers, Morinaga, made Mother’s Day widely known to commoners by holding a big event at which as many as two hundred thousand mothers were invited to an amusement park for free. After the war, In Japan as well, Mother’s Day was fixed on the second Sunday in May following American culture.
カーネーションの花言葉は、母への愛・女性の愛、純粋な愛情。私の愛は生きています。etc... まさに母性愛の象徴です。
The flower language of carnation is 'love for mother,' 'female love,' 'pure love,' 'My love is still alive,' etc.This flower is exactly the symbol of maternity love.
今人類は、コロナで未曽有の時代を迎えていますが、コロナを憎み反発するのではなく、母性愛のような大らかさで、コロナを受け入れ、気付きを与えてくれたコロナに感謝し、共生の道を辿っていくことが、この宇宙全体に良いエネルギーの循環を生み出し、またコロナもその愛と感謝のエネルギーで、よきものへと変わっていくのではないかと、そう感じています。
Now, we human being are facing to an unprecedented situation ever never had before with coronavirus issue ,but I truly feel that our space would have an ideal energy circulation by accepting them with generosity like maternity love, making a choice of living in harmony with them, and appreciating them for making us aware of precious lessons, which will eventually make changes to its form turning to the original calm state.
人類が、これまでに、行き過ぎた物質文明や度重なる戦争、負の想念で、地球を痛めつけてきたことは、コロナによりあぶりだされた、直視しなければならない事実でしょう。
It is an important fact from which we should not turn away that we have been hurting our earth due to the excessive materialistic civilization, repeated war, and our negative thoughts. We should know coronaviruses uncovered this very fact this time.
そんな人類であっても、無条件の愛でずっと見守ってくれているマザーアースにも、母の日の感謝を送ります。
